ARIK COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT RAMMED INTO AIRFORCE AIRCRAFT AT JOS

NIGERIA AVIATION MINISTER, PRINCESS STELLA ODUAH

A commercial aircraft plying the Lagos- Jos route has rammed it’s wing into an air-force C-130 aircraft in Abuja on Saturday 14th of July 2012.The military aircraft was billed to convey students of the two Airforce military institutions located in Jos before the incident happened

 Though no casualty was recorded, a joint investigation into immediate cause of the accident has commenced
In a press release by the Nigerian airforce through the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Airforce information , Wing Commander A . Makun it stated that: “ An Arik Airline Boeing 737-700 with registration No 5NMJI on a routine flight to Lagos brushed the wing of a parked Nigerian Air Force C-130 (NAF 917) at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang Jos”.

“The incident happened at about 1345hrs today when the Arik aircraft was taxiing at the airport tarmac in preparation for take-off. The tank 1 wing tip of the NAF C-130 was damaged while the wing of the Arik aircraft was dismembered and hung on the NAF aircraft”.


“There was no casualty recorded during the incident, however, the 2 aircraft had to abort their missions. The NAF C-130 was in Jos to airlift students of the Air Force Military School and Air Force Girls Military School . Meanwhile, a joint investigation by the Nigerian Air Force and Arik Airline management has commenced”.

PLANE BELLY CRASHED LAND IN NIGERIA AGAIN

Nigeria's Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah. What is she still doing in office?
 A Diamond DA 2 MPP aircraft marked with 5N-BKS, belonging to presidential committee on maritime. PICOMMS   was involved in a serious incident of belly-landing at Benin Airport around 11a.m on Thursday 5th of July 2012. However, no casualty was recorded.

According to information made available by the spokesperson of Accident investigation bureau, Mr. Tunji Oketunbi, no casualty was involved. 

Information from some sources said that there only two individuals in the plane which were a pilot and another pilot-in-training and the plane had to crash land due to failure of the nose wheel or the landing gear to retract. 


This is happening at a moment when the mourning of victims of the Dana airways were yet to be concluded and at this time a government aircraft is involved.
